ADA

Agar Diffusion Assay Semi-Automation

ADA is an Agar Diffusion Assay automation solution

ADA integrates with Pickolo — an imaging and colony-picking module — to bring semi-automation to the agar diffusion assay workflow.

Compatible with Tecan Freedom EVO75®, EVO® and Fluent® liquid handlers. Works with both 90 mm and 120 mm Petri dishes.

Automated Plate Imaging

The liquid handler automatically retrieves the plate and places it on the imaging station. Using backlight illumination, ADA captures a precise image used for dispensing and another image for analysis.

Intelligent Punch Mark Detection

ADA automatically locates all punch marks and identifies the colored orientation marker — a line drawn between the first and last punch. Each mark is precisely indexed and ordered, ready for dispensing.

Precise Antibiotic Dispensing

ADA sends the exact coordinates of each punch mark to the system. The liquid handler dispenses antibiotics with precision into every well — at the right location, every time.

Measure Inhibition Zones

After overnight incubation, ADA analyzes the plate again. Using multi-ray radial analysis, it measures the inhibition zone radius around each punch mark. Results are exported as CSV for seamless integration with your LIS.

Flexible and Robust

  • Works with 90 mm and 120 mm Petri dishes
  • Adapts to different imaging setups and lighting conditions
  • Exports punch locations and halo measurements as CSV
  • Flexible and can adapt to different workflows
